About Us

Since 1962

Founded by late restaurateur David Benson, along with his sister Bette, Ol’ South Pancake House is where the entire family can enjoy southern home-style cooking at any time of the day or night. Signature dishes have kept our guests coming back for more, with our most popular World Famous German Pancakes being served over 40 thousand times each year to our loyal customers.

For over 50 years, Ol’ South has continued to carry on the tradition of a 24 hour family restaurant with signature cooking. As one of Fort Worth’s landmarks, Ol’ South has served and pleased over 10 million customers since 1962, including many celebrities, dignitaries, congressmen, athletes and musicians.

Ol’ South Pancake House is proud to be Texan and always strives to offer the best in Southern cooking.

We have been voted the best breakfast and late night restaurant for 6 years in a row!

We have a full menu selection. From Waffles to Chicken Fried Steak, from Our Grilled Spinach Salad to our sweet and delicious Pecan pie, we have it all!

2016 FACES OF FORT WORTH

From 2016 FACES of Fort Worth Magazine Feature:

Founded in 1962 and voted Best Breakfast in Fort Worth many times, Ol’ South Pancake House has become known as THE spot to go to for breakfast in Fort Worth. Signature dishes, such as our most popular, delicious World Famous German Pancake, and traditional breakfast items keep our loyal customers coming back. And, except for Christmas Eve, we don’t close. Ever! Owner Rex Benson continues to carry on the same tradition of serving homestyle cooking that his father, late co-founder David Benson, started over 50 years ago. And Rex has started some of his own traditions, such as a Mega Pancake Challenge and offering a beautiful, fully equipped catering trailer for events. We serve families wanting to eat where their children are always welcome, hungry TCU students craving some homestyle cooking, tourists looking to grab a bite from a true local joint, and everyone in between!

From Southern Living:

If you’re from some faraway place like Dallas or you don’t attend TCU just down the road, you probably don’t know what Germans are. But you may never go back to regular pancakes…
